Neuropsychological assessment
A neuropsychological assessment is a comprehensive investigation of a child’s thinking skills, as well as their behaviour and emotional functioning. It provides a detailed picture of a child’s cognitive strengths and difficulties, which helps to identify what is causing the presenting problems. This information is then used to provide individualised recommendations and interventions for the child.
Intervention
Marnie can also provide therapy and intervention, if required.
For example:
• Implementing learning strategies
• Learning to regulate one’s own emotions and behaviour
• Stress, anxiety and anger management
• Learning about social skills and friendships
• Making the transition from primary to secondary school
• Parenting support for challenging behaviour
• Advocacy on behalf of the child or young persons and their needs
Marnie often works alongside paediatricians, speech pathologists or occupational therapists to provide the best support and intervention for children. She also works closely with school teachers and learning support staff to help improve understanding of a child’s particular learning difficulties.
